报告摘要:Chemistry of plutonium and beyond are rarely studied because of the high radioactivity and the limitation of the source of these elements. Prof. Thomas E. Albrecht-Schmitt has been investigating the chemistry of plutonium and the beyond for years. This extraordinary lecture will give an insight to plutonium and the following elements about their structures and unique properties.

个人简介:Born in Pennsylvania, USA, Professor Thomas E. Albrecht-Schmitt received his PhD from Northwestern University in 1997. He then went to University of Illinois for a postdoctor position. He got a position in Auburn University after he finished the postdoc work and was appointed as a professor in 2007. Now, Prof. Albrecht-Schmitt is the Gregory R. Choppin Chair in Chemistry of Florida State Universitry and also the director of Department of Energy, Center for Actinide Science & Technology. Prof. Albrecht-Schmitt receives lots of awards. He’s awarded Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry in 2015 and Nobel Laureate Signature Award for Graduate Education in Chemistry in 2016, he’s also been member of Department of Energy, Chemical Sciences Council since the same year. During these years of research, Prof. Albrecht-Schmitt’s research results have been published in Science, Nature, Nature Chemistry, JACS, Angewandte and etc. Recently, he’s interested in structure and property of f-elements, environmental actinide chemistry, new functional materials, nuclear chemistry, and etc.
