报告内容简介:

The harmful effects of ionizing radiation cause damages of biologicalmacromolecules such as DNA and defects in growth and development, produce avariety of diseases, also is the important way of biological evolution.  Deinococcusspp. are among the most radioresistant organisms on Earth, being able to surviveextreme doses of radiation, 1000-fold higher than most vertebrates. Themolecular mechanisms underlying DNA repair and biomolecular protection, whichare responsible for the remarkable radioresistance of Deinococcus bacteria, have been a debatable subject for the last 60years. This presentation is focused on the most recent findings regarding themolecular background of radioresistance and on Deinococcus bacteria response to radiation stress. Novel proteinsand genes involved in the highly regulated DNA repair processes, and enzymaticand non- enzymatic antioxidant systems are presented. In addition, a recentlyproposed mechanism that may contribute to DNA damage protection in Deinococcusradiodurans is discussed.
